Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Byron K. Jones was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) Workers Compensation Fund. The GSBA Director of Risk Management Cliff Cole recommended Jones and superintendents and board members from school districts throughout the state voted. Currently, Jones becomes the only CFO in the state to serve on both the Risk Management and Workers Compensation Trustee Boards. “I would like to express my appreciation for the nomination and support of all of the member districts of GSBA and especially the current Trustee Board for showing confidence in me. This would not be possible without the unwavering support of GSCS Superintendent Dr. Keith L. Simmons, board of education members, finance support staff and my family. Without each of the aforementioned people, the time commitment and responsibilities would not be possible. I look forward to providing input and receiving feedback on important issues involving all of the school districts within Georgia, “stated Jones.
Jones is a native of Troup County and is a graduate of Troup County High School, LaGrange College and State University of West Georgia. He is a Certified School Risk Manager. He has previously served as Chief Financial Officer for Meriwether and Troup County schools.
