Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) nutrition professionals attended the Annual Georgia School Nutrition Association (GSNA) Conference in Augusta, GA on April 18-20, 2024. The GSCS Nutrition Program was recognized among the best of the best in the state by receiving the prestigious Gold Scroll Award. The Gold Scroll Award is the highest honor a school nutrition program in Georgia can receive.

In addition to receiving the Gold Scroll Award, numerous schools were recognized for consistently high and increasing breakfast and lunch participation.

GSCS Superintendent Dr. Keith Simmons stated, “We are proud of our GSCS Nutrition Department for the work they do every day, which has led to this important recognition.”

“I appreciate the leadership from GSCS Nutrition Director Robert Wheeler, GSCS Nutrition Manager Supervisor Anita Berry and GSCS Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator Janet Clowers for offering new and tasty menu options to increase student participation in breakfast and lunch,” stated GSCS Deputy Superintendent Dr. Donald Warren.

GSNA is the state’s professional organization of school food service employees. GSNA is affiliated with the School Nutrition Association, a national nonprofit organization that represent school nutrition professionals across the nation.
