In a remarkable achievement highlighting the importance of Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs, the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) has soared above the state average with an outstanding 99 percent graduation rate. This statistic, revealed in the latest data released by the state, places GSCS well ahead of the state-wide average of 97.75 percent.
CTAE pathways are proving to be instrumental in equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for real-world success, reaffirming the value of career-focused education in today's rapidly evolving job market. Career Pathways are for all students, no matter which path they plan to take. Pathway completers are prepared to pursue higher education, enter the military, accept an apprenticeship opportunity or immediately begin their career. Many of the pathways that are offered at Griffin Regional College and Career Academy (GRCCA) are in conjunction with Southern Crescent Technical College and allows our students to complete college credit at the same time as gaining essential job skills.
GSCS CTAE Coordinator Dr. Kimberly Sheppard noted, “CTAE is one way that we prepare students for life, demonstrating how these programs not only engage them in education but also chart a course for their future success in the workforce and our state's economic well-being. These classes forge new paths for our students, guiding them to shape their life plans. Most importantly, they frequently offer National Certifications, empowering students to step into entry-level positions fully prepared for what lies ahead. As the state continues to invest in career-focused education, the future looks brighter than ever for Georgia's students.”
GSCS Superintendent Dr. Keith Simmons stated, “The significance of this accomplishment cannot be overstated. This remarkable achievement serves as a testament to the transformative power of CTAE programs in preparing students to explore career paths aligned with their interests and talents for lifelong success. CTAE exemplifies our mission to empower students to graduate college and career ready.”
